"To me, it’s no more appealing than ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ or ‘Match Point’ or ‘Annie Hall’ or ‘Husbands and Wives.’ To me, they all have the same appeal. Or lack of appeal."
"To Rome With Love" is minor Woody Allen, but even minor Woody Allen is still Woody Allen. There are laughs and wry observations and biting satire in the film — and then two storylines (Allen’s own and the section involving Penelope Cruz) that go nowhere. Too bad he didn’t make one movie about Alec Baldwin, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page. (P.S., Page plays the best horrendous soul-sucking phony this side of actual reality.)
Got to breathe the same air as Woody Allen during a press conference for “To Rome With Love” this week. Career highlight! Click here for some observations from the event.
